Observer's indifference
i'm standing by the rain but never in it.
this is what it means to watch as an outsider.
the wet, cold feeling and caring, never touch you.
you stand by as everyone else
jumps in puddles time and time again,
knowing they don't realize how silly
and corrosive it is.
first dip in a toe and jump out of the way.
next they always jump straight in,
ignoring the danger.
they seem to forget everything, including that.
the puddles in this world only form on train tracks.
and those tracks are always busy.
just because you do not feel the pain.
does not mean it isn't there
just because you feel a heartbeat.
doesn't mean there is one...
this is what it means to watch as an outsider.
the wet, cold feeling and caring, never touch you.
you stand by as everyone else
jumps in puddles time and time again,
knowing they don't realize how silly
and corrosive it is.
first dip in a toe and jump out of the way.
next they always jump straight in,
ignoring the danger.
they seem to forget everything, including that.
the puddles in this world only form on train tracks.
and those tracks are always busy.
just because you do not feel the pain.
does not mean it isn't there
just because you feel a heartbeat.
doesn't mean there is one...
